Here we are, in Astoria...

We have just completed the first day of our journey, to Astoria, OR. Here are some pictures from our journey:

Me and Appa in front of the Sounder
The brand-new Sound Transit Gillig Advantage hybrid bus

The interior of the 603. We are riding a new Gillig hybrid bus in this picture.

The Mason Transit bus at its stop in the Olympia Transit Center

This is a picture of a normal, local Intercity Transit bus.

Grays Harbor Transit: That's Us!

Interior of the route 40 to Aberdeen. Very comfortable seats, BTW.

Trees on the US highway 8 (as seen from the 40 bus). The 40 mostly goes through the
forest to get to the coast, save for a few rivers and cities. It is a great example of how well coordinated these rural buses are, because often the driver is informed to wait for a late bus at a stop.

Interior of the new, low floor Pacific Transit buses.
Front of the 14 bus. The bus driver promptly changed the sign to say  14 Raymond.
We almost missed this bus, because we were waiting at the wrong bay in the transit center. But, Appa wanted to double check where we should wait, and the customer service lady told us where to wait. So, all's well that ends well, and we made it to Raymond on time.
Aberdeen Station. We had lunch at Jack-In-The-Box, then just hung around the transit center of Grunge City.
Aberdeen was not one of my favorite cities.

Astoria bridge at sunset. Believe it or not, we took this picture with the built-in camera of a smartphone!
I love Astoria, and want to visit it again, because of its fantastic sunrises and sunsets, the riverwalk, and the great mexican food.
